From the time children enter Yarra Valley Grammar’s Early Learning Centre, we work in partnership with parents to continue to foster that sense of wonder and awe that is essential to a child’s development. Our vision is to create an atmosphere where children and families feel comfortable, confident and embraced.
Our teaching staff are degree qualified, Early Years trained educators and we offer a play-based curriculum. In 2016, our centre was awarded Exceeding the National Quality Standard by ACECQA (The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority) across all seven areas assessed.
Our ELC students learn in a purpose-built centre, opened in 2010, and also have full use of the School’s other facilities including the indoor swimming and wading pools, sports complex, music school, Performing Arts Centre and resource centre (library).
Kindergarten programs are available in our Early Learning Centre for both three and four year olds, full and part time.
All ELC sessions run from 8.45am-3.00pm, with before- and after-school care available.
Yarra Valley Grammar offers small classes with exceptional teachers, where students develop the confidence to become independent learners; willing to ask questions, listen to others and absorb new learning.
The Junior School curriculum focuses on establishing strong skills in the key areas of literacy and numeracy, complemented by a diverse specialist program. E-learning also plays a prominent role in the curriculum, with a mixture of personal and shared devices provided for students. We continually strive to cater for individual differences, seeking new ideas to motivate and engage our students.
“Our philosophy is one of individuality, where each student’s strengths, interests and needs are recognised and catered for. Our teachers work hard to differentiate the learning experience so that each student can achieve their best.” Mr Chris Lawson, Deputy Principal - Head of Junior School.
