Victoria University Secondary College

Deer Park VIC, Melbourne Western Suburbs

Victoria University Secondary College is a co-educational government Year 7–12 college with a Junior Campus in Deer Park and a brand new contemporary Senior Campus and Trade Training Centre in Cairnlea. Our vision inspires students to ‘Create the Future’ and our college values ‘Aspire to Achieve’, ‘Strengthen the Community’ and ‘Respect Ourselves and Others’ support and guide all we do at VUSC.

At VUSC, we believe all students can succeed with effort and persistence. Our teaching and learning framework is based on a synthesis of worldwide educational research. Our evidence-based teaching practices and strategies establish safe, purposeful and inclusive classroom learning environments while providing the individual behaviour and learning supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.

Our focus on literacy and numeracy has seen student outcomes increase significantly over the last few years. Support is provided at all levels and high achieving students are challenged and extended with our SEAL and Deep Learning acceleration programs. Our school wide AVID program teaches students important study skills and organisation. Parent and staff opinion of the college is overwhelmingly positive and student attitude surveys show that students feel safe, are motivated to learn and they believe teachers help them learn to the best of their ability.

The college offers a rich program of learning and extra-curricular activities catering to all students’ interests and abilities, including music and concert band, performing arts, sport, rugby league, debating and leadership.

Our median VCE English study score is consistently above the state level and our Dux of 2022 achieved an ATAR of 96.65. Our students received outstanding results this year, with ten students achieving an ATAR of 90 or more (double that of last year), while 34% of the cohort achieved an ATAR of 80 or above. This has allowed students to have a far greater choice in the university courses they are able to pursue. On average, 99% of students receive an offer at either university or TAFE, pursuing careers in biomedicine, engineering, law, accounting, building, education, STEM, media/music, nursing, youth work, and others.

However, our focus begins in Year 7. From day one, we will teach your child how to aspire and succeed.

We invite you to book a tour to see our classes in action and look forward to you joining our exciting community at Victoria University Secondary College.
