Matthew Flinders Anglican College is one of Queensland’s leading independent co-educational private schools. Flinders prides itself on educating for excellence in learning and life.
Set on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland on a rainforest-fringed campus, our College has a mission to challenge and support our 1,350 students from Prep to Year 12. Students are guided to explore and uphold the College values of Courage, Respect, Integrity and Compassion. Families at Flinders appreciate the school culture and environment as it promotes academic excellence, inspires intellectual curiosity, expects personal accountability and instils a genuine passion for learning. It is an exciting time for expansion and innovation at the College with the new Flinders Masterplan construction project in full swing. The Masterplan created the new Year 7 Precinct, which opened in August 2020, and the new Years 5 and 6 Precinct, which opened in January 2021. The new learning resource centre will open in the Primary School in Term 4 of 2021, with more new facilities to follow.
Our Flinders community of board, staff, parents, alumni, local community members and volunteers works as a team to support every student from our young Preppies up to our Year 12 graduates. The Flinders Primary School includes two sub-schools: Junior Primary (Prep to Year 3) and the Senior Primary (Years 4 to 6). Meanwhile, the Secondary School is characterised by Middle School (Years 7 to 9) and Senior School (Years 10 to 12).
Student health, wellbeing and care is fully integrated throughout teaching, learning and structural organisation at the College and reflects our values of Courage, Respect, Integrity and Compassion. It is our whole College community’s responsibility to effectively meet the personal, social, spiritual and academic needs of students.
In terms of life beyond Flinders for our Year 12 students, there are many quality career services provided to our students and parents. Counselling and assistance are available for subject selections, post-school pathway decisions and tertiary applications. Our Old Flinderians’ Association is our alumni community which supports our students to care for and connect with one another as they journey through life, well beyond the school gates.
