Sacré Coeur Women Shape the World
Sacré Cœur is a leading Catholic School for girls in Melbourne. It was founded on its Burke Road site in 1888 by the French order of nuns, the Society of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ). Our purpose is to “educate and empower our women to make a profound contribution to their world.”
This purpose statement reflects our commitment to educate each child, not just academically, but holistically with the goal of empowering her and building her confidence and resilience to respond to change and to live her life with a future focus.
Sacré Cœur is connected to 150 Sacred Heart schools in over 40 countries. The ongoing development of our International Sacred Heart and external community relationships, networks and curriculum offerings influence global thinking and leadership.
In an ever-changing world, there has never been a better, or more challenging time to educate young women, therefore we ensure our girls and our staff are working with the latest learning, attitudes and devices.
Educators of the Sacred Heart
Our expert and dedicated teachers are privileged to work with young girls and women from Prep to Year 12 to guide their minds and their hearts in all they do. Sacré Cœur has been built upon a proud tradition of sharing our gifts and talents and for providing an optimal educational outcome for each child in a caring and supportive environment.
Joigny, Sacré Cœur’s Junior School, provides a vibrant environment for students from Prep to Year 6. Single-level classes from Prep to Year 4, and two classes in Years 5 and 6, ensure that each student’s individual talents can be identified and programs can be tailored to help her achieve her very best. We aim to achieve this through a rich, relevant and varied curriculum that offers a diverse range of activities and targets individual needs.
At Sacré Cœur, we believe that positive relationships lie at the heart of learning and for students to be ready to learn, they must first feel happy and secure. At the heart, a Sacred Heart education holds deep respect and concern for each girl’s wellbeing. The Prep to Year 6 Wellness Program explicitly addresses personal and interpersonal skill development, supporting our girls to develop the sense of self-confidence and competence that are essential for success in life and learning.
