The Good Schools Guide has investigated the most popular schools in each state around Australia. First up on the list is Queensland and a focus on schools in Toowoomba, the major city in the Darling Downs region about an hour and a half west of Brisbane. Toowoomba has been tipped as a boom city in the real estate market, with a flurry of first-home buyers investing in the area.
There are 43 schools listed on The Good Schools Guide in the Toowoomba region, including 20 government schools, 13 Catholic and 10 from the independent sector. One of the area’s most well known institutions, Toowoomba Grammar School, made headlines just weeks ago when it was revealed as one of several Queensland private schools whose principals were being paid more than the state’s Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
There are two all-boys schools (St Mary’s College and Toowoomba Grammar School), four all-girls schools (The Glennie School, Fairholme College, St Saviour’s College and St Ursula’s College) and 37 coeducational schools.
