Things to do in the September 2019 holidays in Victoria

With term 3 coming to an end, you might be scratching your head as to how you’ll be keeping your children entertained in the September school holidays. There’s far more happening in Victoria than the Royal Melbourne Show, so we’ve compiled five activities that will keep the kids active and mentally stimulated.

1. Swinburne school holiday workshops

This one’s an exciting one for all young scientists. As the trusted science education partner for Victorian primary and secondary schools, PrimeSCI is offering a school holiday science and engineering workshop to curious children from kindergarten to Year 8. 2. Robotics Workshop at Mentone Girls’ Grammar School

The Mentone Grammar Robotics Workshop will see kids building their own robots that they can then take home. The Robotics Workshop is open to children aged 10–12. Be sure to register them in the popular program fast, as its availability is limited. Find out more and register here.

3. LEGOLAND at Chadstone

4. Wonderland Spiegeltent, Federation Square

From 12 September to 20 October 2019, The Wonderland Spiegeltent Festival will be set up at Federation Square, featuring as a central entertainment hub presenting a world-class line up of children’s shows, amusement parks and food trucks and a Coopers Garden Bar. In partnership with Melbourne Fringe Festival, kids and adults alike will enjoy family-friendly shows such as The Listies Make You LOL!, Don’t Mess with the Dummies, A Day in the Life of You and Pirate Circus. 5. Sovereign Hill, Ballarat

Take a step back in time and experience Australia’s goldrush history. Sovereign Hill is a big, outdoor living museum with so much to offer. It’s brought to life by costumed characters, real-life horses, and operating shops by candle-makers and saddle-makers, just to name a few. Sovereign Hill showcases daily programs that include 18 scheduled activities — there are coach rides, gold panning, underground mine adventures musket firing demonstrations and more!
