Good Schools Spotlight: Foundation Christian College

Our mission is to provide a Christ-centred education in a caring community and to equip students for the 21st Century. Our campus is situated within 8.5 hectares of land, which includes gardens and bushland. Younger students enjoy learning on our grounds through nature play, while our senior students enjoy the peace and tranquillity required for their studies.

We have a strong focus and commitment to ensuring that the eight key academic learning areas (Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Technologies, the Arts, Languages, Health & Physical Education, and a ninth learning area specific to the college, Christian Education) are presented in a coordinated and consistent way from Pre-Primary to Year 10. We have broadened the electives offered to students Years 11 and 12) have an even more specialised approach to learning where students embark on ATAR, General or Vocational Studies, as well as continuing with Health & Physical Education and Christian Education.

Foundation Christian College also understands how important literacy is to students being able to grasp concepts and understand the general capabilities of all the learning areas. Our literacy specialist is key in ensuring all our students have that foundational skill to build on.

We encourage students to be part of our Student Development Program in order to help them become the great person God created them to be. The college offers various leadership roles for mentoring younger students, coaching student sport teams and coordinating sport and social events. These roles include Head Boy, Head Girl, student council representatives, house captains and service team leaders.

Another distinction at Foundation Christian College is that we are a double-stream, K–12 school located on one campus, which enables us to provide a greater degree of continuity, consistency and convenience.
