Arden Anglican School

Arden Anglican School

Epping NSW

Well Known, Well Cared For and Well Taught.

Arden is a vibrant, co-educational Anglican school, providing a high quality, well-rounded education in a caring Christian environment. As a non-selective school, we have a well-earned reputation for nurturing each child to their potential. Students are Well Known, Well Cared For and Well Taught.

Located 25 kilometres from Sydney’s CBD and servicing the North Shore, North West and Hills District, Arden is proud of its 90-plus year tradition of strong academic accomplishment, sporting achievement, community service and a commitment to lifelong learning.

The Pre-school and Junior campus is located in leafy Beecroft and features a charming blend of Federation-style heritage houses with contemporary education facilities.

Our Secondary campus is located at Epping and features a brand new 21st century education facility adjoining the existing campus. The new five-storey redevelopment features administration and student services, Science Laboratories, Food Technology Kitchen, Resource Centre (Library), Technology Workshops, Multimedia and Design Laboratories, general classrooms, passive recreation area on the rooftop and at the heart of the building, the magnificent Arden Creative Arts Centre.

Both campuses are conveniently located within walking distance of the North-West train line. The Secondary campus is just 5 minutes from the Sydney Metro too.

A strong approach to pastoral care bridges our Junior and Secondary campuses. Our highly skilled, engaged and passionate teachers deliver an outstanding academic education, but also focus on the holistic development of each student.

Girls and boys learning together

The co-educational aspect of Arden ensures that learning is embedded in the everyday practices of the school. It is seen that girls and boys learning together exposes the children to the strengths of the other gender’s typical learning style. The children learn how they can support, complement and indeed enrich each other’s learning experiences.

Sound values

The Christian ethos of the school is foundational to the pastoral care and nurturing of each student. Arden works in partnership with parents to create a learning community of respect and participation. Parents are the initial educators of the children and the school strives to inform and work with parents so they can support and encourage their child’s development and learning. Two-way communication is a feature of this partnership. The parent community is also very supportive and involved in the school’s activities. Parents are offered opportunities to assist in the classrooms, visit assemblies, join in with carnivals and share as a family. The school’s community atmosphere is a strong feature of Arden’s culture.

Welfare and personal development

Student wellbeing is an integral part of the policies and practices of the school with a Director of Pastoral Care (K–12), a Pastoral care team, School chaplain and Junior School Chaplin, links to local parishes and three counsellors on staff. Careers guidance is offered for Years 8 to 12, while leadership training is provided from Year 5. At both campuses, there is an active Student Representative Council.

Secondary Campus redevelopment

On Thursday 30 January 2020, Arden Anglican School held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the first day of teaching and learning in ‘Essex’, a five-storey redevelopment of their Secondary Campus in Epping.

Architects, Stanton Dahl, along with builders Lipman Group, have created a resourceful and seamless connection between Arden’s existing building and the new structure. The entire campus has been reimagined and the result is a logical layout and flow between the two facilities.  Featuring biophilic design and environment-friendly technology, this new 21st Century building is both impressive and functional.

“The new building creates a learning hub within the Secondary School campus,” said Mr Matthew Mallison, Head of Middle School, “centralising facilities geographically, both horizontally and vertically”.

Other features include new administration and student services centre, Science laboratories, Food Technology kitchen, Resource Centre, Technology workshops, Multimedia and Design laboratories, two multi-purpose courts and a rooftop passive recreation area.  Located in the heart of this new building is the Arden Creative Arts Centre. This space, around which there is much community anticipation, will seat 600 guests and is designed to be utilised by all students from Pre-school to Year 12.  “It is the space where we will gather as a community, where we will worship, celebrate, perform and entertain,” said Principal, Mr Graham Anderson. “It is the spiritual and cultural heart of Arden and we give thanks to God for the provision of our new vertical Secondary School,” he added.

Just as in 1922, when Arden was founded at Beecroft, and which continues to be the School’s Primary School campus, the School has continued a special connection to Shakespeare’s ‘Forest of Arden’. On arrival at the School’s reception, you are instantly struck by a stunning two storey installation to welcome guests. Featuring fabric panels, vinyl decals and floating foliage, it depicts a contemporary low-poly interpretation of The Forest of Arden. This feature creatively connects the School’s Christian Values, the Garden of Eden, the leafy environment of the Beecroft campus and the notion of students flourishing at the School.
