Siena College is a Catholic school in the Dominican tradition, offering young women an education that will inspire and challenge them to make intelligent and responsible use of their personal gifts and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Our students have a daily, lived experience of women who are leaders at all levels, from a broad based SRC, to our alumnae on whose shoulders we stand. Our patron, St Catherine of Siena, broke the bonds of what was expected of a woman in the 14th century by speaking truth. She challenged those in power and committed herself to a life of prayer and service of others.
Our campus
Located close to the city, the college’s classically designed convent and adjoining chapel are complemented by contemporary, technology rich facilities that provide an aesthetically pleasing learning and teaching environment. The three storey St Catherine Centre houses a lecture theatre/auditorium, Year 12 centre, student services, art gallery, additional contemporary learning and teaching spaces and an upgraded and refurbished library.
Our curriculum
Siena College offers a richly stimulating and contemporary education that makes student learning exciting for young women. Individual talents are nurtured, and young women are empowered to develop their intellect, strive for excellence, think critically, appreciate beauty and respect diversity.
Our Learning Framework ensures that our classrooms provide opportunity for our students to develop the necessary skills and behaviours where all can experience an environment of support and growth, enabling the establishment of respectful and collaborative relationships for all within our Siena community.
The learning program at Siena College is both dynamic and innovative, catering for the students' spiritual, academic, social, emotional and physical development. Students are challenged to be creative, critical and reflective thinkers with a respect for evidence and openness of mind. Opportunities for both independent and collaborative learning are provided, and contemporary technologies are integrated throughout the learning and teaching program. The learning environment caters for a diverse range of student abilities with specially tailored support programs and enrichment opportunities for highly able students.
Religious Education is an integral part of the learning program at all year levels.
Student wellbeing at Siena
Secure, respectful and confident relationships at school, enhance our students’ learning so they can experience a comprehensive and enriching education. At Siena College we actively involve students in community activities and initiatives and strive through all teaching and learning experiences to help our students learn the importance of their roles within our community and beyond the college gates. We actively seek to engage authentically with students so that their voices are heard.
The Siena College Wellbeing Team, which includes the Deputy Principal Wellbeing, Heads of House, Head of Wellbeing Programs and the College Counsellors, provides support and education for both students and parents.
