What do you like most about working at De La Salle?

The students, families and staff are of such wonderful quality. Being part of a 110-year-old tradition of turning out quality young men, a terrific community and combining fun with a responsible approach makes De La Salle a terrific place to work.

What are some special achievements of your staff, students and the school that you are most proud of?

Our staff have worked so hard in my eight years at De La Salle to bring out the very best in all our young men and to improve their opportunities and experiences. Significant growth in VCE results, an innovative and supportive wellbeing structure, an active devotion to social justice and a mature understanding of respectful relationship are all evident.

In your opinion, what sets a Lasallian school apart?

The centuries-old tradition of positive staff-student relationships tailored to the demands and expectations of contemporary society is a major strength. We embrace and support a rich variety of students, and make them feel safe and valued within our Five Core Principles. While we can’t guarantee their ATAR, we can pretty much guarantee the students graduate as a quality young man.

What hopes do you have for the future of your school?

Two crucial areas: to continue our tradition of developing respectful, quality young men with a keen sense of social justice and a desire to contribute to their community. Secondly, to build in each student the critical skills they need to be successful, whichever career they choose. Respect, responsibility, critical thinking, compassion and a desire to do their best are key.
