Early learning at MLC Kindle
Our Kindle program celebrates the natural curiosity of children through hands-on exploration of the world around them. The play-based learning program welcomes both girls and boys aged six weeks to five years, and is staffed by a dedicated and experienced team of educators. The program combines high-quality care with a high staff-to-child ratio, a family centred approach and MLC’s renowned educational expertise.
Our comprehensive program includes music, Japanese, gymnastics and library and computer skills. There are also opportunities to explore literacy and numeracy.
Junior school (Prep to Year 6)
Recognised as at the forefront of primary education for girls across Melbourne, MLC delivers a junior school experience that nurtures each student’s development, foundational learning, intellectual curiosity and holistic wellbeing.
Innovative learning
Nestled within our beautiful Kew campus, MLC Junior School has multiple communal spaces and dedicated play and learning areas for our Prep–Year 2 and Years 3–6 students. We implement internationally recognised and evidence-based learning and wellbeing research and practices within a progressive curriculum, developing students’ curiosity and building solid foundations in numeracy, literacy, STEAM, coding, leadership and entrepreneur skills. Furthermore, every student from Prep to Year 2 is given their own iPad, which plays a fundamental role in supporting their learning and discovery in the classroom. Then, from Year 3, students are provided with a notebook computer to further enhance the curriculum.
Proactive support
We identify the learning needs of our students and use adaptive teaching and learning programs to provide the best possible education for every individual child. Class teachers and Learning Support specialists work together to combine data from formalised testing, anecdotal evidence and information from parents and carers to create a complete picture of each student, including their approaches to learning as well as academic, social and emotional needs.
Diverse experiences
Students discover and nurture their individual interests and talents through the diversity of our curriculum, which includes programs in Japanese, French, Education Outdoors and instrumental music. Our range of co-curricular activities is also one of the largest and most varied of any school in the country. This includes performing arts, music, dance, student clubs and over 18 sports across the junior school.
