Live a Bigger Boarding Life at MLC
A mere seven kilometres from Melbourne's CBD, nestled in the leafy inner-city suburb of Kew, MLC Boarding is a vibrant home-away-from-home for girls from all around Australia, and the world. Our exceptional culture of care is offered within the secure, immersive, and inclusive community of Tiddeman House, where MLC boarders safely develop the skills and knowledge they need to embrace the challenges and opportunities of life.
MLC is a recognised leader in boarding education. We consistently nurture intelligent, independent, and resilient young women.
Located on-campus near the bustling urban centre of Hawthorn, Tiddeman House combines 130 years of tradition with contemporary living, creating a warm, supportive environment.
Our facilities include our renowned music school and physical education centre for lessons and tuition, as well as a dedicated boarding sporting program. The boarding house upholds a strong sense of community spirit with organised weekend activities, an annual boarders’ drama production and special event nights.
Living spaces include communal areas with modern facilities, an art and mindfulness space, reading room, study room, and gym, as well as the state-of-the-art facilities of the main college. We provide an environment that balances flexibility with structure, and privacy with connection. Students grow in independence and leadership skills through our boarding leader group, our boarding buddy system, and of course through countless opportunities within the wider college.
MLC offers one of the largest and most varied curricula in Australia and we enthusiastically encourage our boarders to embrace the diverse range of activities available. With 30 sports and a wide range of committees and clubs on offer, there is sure to be something to ignite your daughter’s passions. We understand that the transition to boarding can be daunting, and our experienced, caring, and approachable team of staff are committed to best practice residential care. Furthermore, our academic tutors regularly liaise with day school teaching staff and parents so that each boarder’s learning needs are met, and progress is monitored.
Boarding provides a wonderful opportunity for students to develop confidence, resilience, and personal management skills. For those not from Melbourne, it gives students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the city and makes transitions into future tertiary studies far easier.
We are proud to foster a community culture of support and diversity, where lifelong friendships are made.
Boarding scholarships are available. See mlc.vic.edu.au/Join-Us/MLC-Scholarships for more information.
