Newman College

Newman College

Churchlands WA

Newman College is energised by the uniqueness and vitality of small children. We offer a personalised approach to learning in a safe and supportive environment at our specialised Early Childhood Education campus, catering to children from Pre-Kindy to Year 2.

We weave an informal and flexible play-based learning approach designed to move a child through a developmental pathway towards literacy and numeracy. Throughout the journey, families remain our closest partners in this process.

Our program promotes the development of children who demonstrate the attributes of autonomy, curiosity, persistence, reasoning, problem-solving, responsibility, imagination and creativity.

Newman College’s Vision for Learning is Shine through Discovery — Let your light shine (Matthew 5:16), which commits to the alignment of teaching principles from Pre-Kindy through to Year 12. Families can find comfort in the knowledge that over the course of a child’s education at Newman College, there is consistency. This affords each child the chance to grow and develop within an environment that enriches education through our core principles:

  • Challenge
  • Collaborate
  • Create
  • Celebrate

Our ‘Early Childhood Statement of Philosophy’ demonstrates the application of the Vision for Learning in the context of Early Childhood Education at Newman College. Take the time to read our commitment to the education of our youngest students.

Our customised learning facility allows us to offer specialty programs not always provided at primary schools. These include:

  • visual arts
  • music education
  • physical education
  • Italian language
  • mathematics extension program
  • Ideas Lab – Inquiry and STEM based learning
  • ‘Ignis’ gifted and talented education program
  • instrumental music tuition

Students undertaking their early years of learning are also afforded access to the college’s significant facilities.

These include:

  • 50m x 8-lane heated swimming pool
  • 600 seat production auditorium
  • Champagnat Chapel
  • Sports grounds and courts

Before school, after school and holiday care programs are also hosted at our Early Childhood Education campus. The program is conducted by Mercy Care, providing an outstanding service to the Newman College community.

Weekly playgroup sessions are also available for those that would like to experience life at our Early Childhood Education campus prior to the commencement of formal schooling.

We welcome you and your family to tour the facility and experience for yourself the welcoming nature of our community.
