PLC is one of over 3,500 schools to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) in Years 11 and 12 as an alternative to the VCE. Each year at PLC, up to one third of our cohort choose the IB program and their outstanding results reflect the expertise of our staff, the dedication of the students and the breadth and depth of the educational opportunities that enables each girl to pursue her passions.
The IB is a cross-cultural programme that allows students to gain an increased knowledge of, and respect for, the cultures of the world. Through the CAS program students are encouraged to stay active, engaged and aware of their role and responsibilities as global students and they incorporate a wide range of sporting and co-curricular activities into their Year 11 and 12 educational journey.
Our students consistently achieve some of the highest IB results in the country and internationally. In 2022, 6 girls achieved a perfect 45 and a notional ATAR of 99.95. Of PLC’s cohort, 29% achieved a notional ATAR of 99.5+, 47% achieved 99+, 57% achieved 98+ and 94% achieved 90+. The median notional ATAR was 98.55.
The IB enables them to study at Australian universities and is also valued by overseas universities as a matriculation qualification. PLC students who have gained their IB Diploma have enrolled at a variety of prestigious international universities, including Oxford and Cambridge and Yale.
At PLC, students are nurtured and supported by our skilled and experienced teachers, as well as through our Careers staff who assist them in planning their future pathways.
