Boarding at Caulfield Grammar School opens the door to a rewarding boarding experience for girls and boys. Boarding is available at the Caulfield Campus in Years 7 to 12.
Caulfield Grammar School has always been a boarding school — since its foundation in 1881 — and is committed to providing a secure and supportive environment. Caulfield Grammar is the only Associated Public School (APS) to offer boarding for girls and boys in metropolitan Melbourne, allowing sisters and brothers to board at the one school.
Our small boarding community of around 95 to 100 boarders and boarding staff and their young families leads to a close-knit family environment. Girls and boys share recreational and dining facilities but are accommodated in separate boarding houses (with a maximum of four students per room). Facilities include a library, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, basketball courts and a games room. Located eight kilometres from Melbourne’s city centre and well serviced by public transport, students enjoy convenient access to all the attractions of Australia’s ‘most liveable city’.
Boarding students are assisted in their studies by resident staff and also by a team of specialist teachers who provide tutoring.
Few schools can match the range of learning experiences on offer at Caulfield Grammar. This enables students to discover their talents and hone their skills in their chosen fields.
The school has a history of excellent VCE results. Year 10 students are able to study VCE units suited to their interests and abilities, allowing the VCE to be spread over three years rather than two. VET and first-year university subjects are also provided, and students are supported by a comprehensive careers program.
The Internationalism Program is based at Caulfield’s Nanjing Campus in China and allows Year 9 students to experience living and learning in China for five weeks, studying themes such as heritage, work, family, education and challenges.
The introduction of Learning Mentors to each Year 7 and 8 class means that two teachers operate in each core subject. They observe, assess and respond to the academic and social development of each child while supporting the specialist teachers.
