The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme fits perfectly with St Andrew’s Cathedral School’s global focus, where students are challenged to think beyond the curriculum. Our 2016 cohort achieved one of the school’s best-ever IB Diploma results, including one 44 (the maximum possible IB score is 45). The pass rate for our IB students was 97 per cent, which exceeds the worldwide pass rate of 80 per cent and more than 70 per cent of graduates received ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) conversion scores above 90, that is, in the top 10 per cent in NSW.
Increasingly, our IB graduates are choosing to study overseas, at institutions such as New York’s The New School. With small class sizes and access to specialist staff, IB is the perfect option for senior students looking for a rigorous, well-rounded alternative to the HSC.
In 2016, St Andrew’s introduced the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. This move represents our commitment to best practice in the assessment and learning of Middle School students. The benefits will not only be seen in students in Years 7 to 10 but will also manifest in the enhanced development of our students undertaking the HSC, the IB Diploma and beyond school, as they are equipped with the tools for lifelong learning.
