Mercedes College

Mercedes College

Perth WA

Mercedes College is a Catholic Year 7–12 school specialising in girls’ education. Located in the heart of Perth city, Mercedes College provides the ideal environment for students’ academic, social and emotional development in a changing world context.

At Mercedes, we see education as a shared responsibility between the family and the College. A high level of mutual respect, support and communication between parents and staff plays an essential role in the education of our students.

Opportunities to Excel

Innovators in girls’ education, our curriculum provides experiences to engage and encourage each student in their quest for personal excellence. Mercedes College provides students with the skills and understanding to confidently respond to dynamic future societies and workplaces. Our educational programs encourage girls to develop critical thinking skills while immersed in relevant contexts, to effectively respond to changes in their environment and recognise their impact on society.

Mercedes holds the belief that varied and diverse learning opportunities best prepare students for the future, offering a broad range of courses to students in all year groups.

Junior students engage in a wide range of elective options such as:

  • Design
  • Crime investigation
  • Dance
  • STEM
  • Media
  • Robotics.

Senior students can choose from the many ATAR and general courses on offer, in addition to certificate courses and SCSA endorsed programs.

City Life

Located in the Perth CBD, we provide unique learning opportunities on- and off-campus, with access to a wide range of real-world learning experiences. Innovative experiences with business and industry flourish across a range of learning areas.

Students can walk to the District Court to view court sessions, or learn from journalists at nearby television studios.

Students work with industry professionals on the annual school production, while city-based engineering and IT companies work alongside our students on STEM projects.

Learning Outside the Box

Opportunities to discover each student’s potential outside traditional learning environments is an integral part of the Mercedes journey, and students participate in a wide array of co-curricular opportunities.

Collaboration and leadership are nurtured in team activities such as:

  • Volleyball
  • AFL
  • Netball
  • Rowing triathlon
  • Swimming
  • Athletics.

Creative pursuits such as:

  • Drama
  • Dance
  • Choir
  • Music ensembles

encourage students to experience learning and growth from an alternative perspective.

Students are always encouraged to explore new experiences to develop curiosity and resilience. Groups such as:

  • Young Mercies
  • Mock Law

provide opportunities for students to discover new interests.

Care and Serving the Community

Mercedes College’s Pastoral Care program is carefully designed around age-appropriate needs and evidence-based research. The program helps transition girls from childhood to adulthood, nurturing growth while providing strategies to build resilience and strong connections with parents, teachers, peers and the community.

The College has a proud heritage of providing education to young women from diverse cultures and backgrounds, encouraging them to develop:

  • positive self-image
  • self-awareness
  • courage
  • resilience
  • care for others, the community and the environment.

Service is a key aspect of our students’ development. Students participate in outreach programs and support organisations such as Street Soccer, McGrath Foundation and the Ponytail Project.
