St Leonard’s College is one of Melbourne’s leading independent schools for students from ELC to Year 12, and the school of choice for more parents than any other in Bayside Melbourne.
For over 100 years, we have provided young people with an education for life in an unrivalled atmosphere of love and commitment to developing the whole person.
Our students excel academically, enjoying first-class facilities and diverse co-curricular offerings. Our inspiring and caring teachers deliver a modern, relevant and dynamic curriculum in a physically, emotionally and spiritually safe coeducational environment.
We seek for our students to understand that their education is not only about what it can bring to their life, but through it what they might bring to the lives of others. We help them discover talents, interests and values that stay with them for life.
Set on picturesque grounds, a mixture of beautiful historic buildings and modern facilities support learning and provide a range of locations to relax, play and study. Students enjoy well-resourced libraries, music and art centres, dedicated Junior, Middle and Senior School buildings, multi-purpose halls and excellent sporting facilities.
Our new Visual Arts Centre provides specialist facilities equipped with the latest technologies and dedicated gallery spaces.
We recently opened a new library and a dedicated space for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programs. A redeveloped drama facility, including theatre and green room, is scheduled for completion before the end of 2017.
We offer an extensive range of subjects, including mathematics, science, LOTE (French, Japanese, Indonesian, German, Chinese and Spanish at various year levels); English, music, information and communications technology, STEM and a range of humanities and social sciences.
Our Talent Development Program provides extension activities and identifies opportunities for further academic challenge through participation in programs such as the da Vinci Decathlon, Tournament of Minds, Future Problem Solving and Spellmasters.
Our students regularly represent the college at national and international levels in these programs.
Students are encouraged to discover and develop skills and interests in a range of areas, including sport, debating, public speaking, drama, music, photography, media production and outdoor education. Our students enjoy unrivalled success in a range of state, national and international competitions.
In Years 11 and 12, students choose either the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the VCE as their pathway to tertiary education. St Leonard’s College offers an extensive selection of subjects in both courses and our highly qualified and committed staff teach across both programs, ensuring students enjoy the best support and tuition available.

St Leonard's College is a warm, vibrant and highly motivated community that enjoys the reputation of being one of the most respected and admired coeducational independent schools in Australia. We pride ourselves on developing an understanding in our young people that their education is a privilege and that its purpose is not so much about what it will bring to their lives, but through them what it can bring to the lives of others.
Our programs support and promote openness and tolerance. The diversity of our offering recognises and reflects the multiple intelligences that our students possess. Most importantly we recognise that a great school isn't only about grades; it's about creativity, engagement in a broad co-curricular offering, friendship, and young men and women living and working together in harmony. Moreover, this is facilitated in an environment that encourages the development of open and enquiring minds, and nurtures the character to allow our graduates to make valuable contributions in an ever-changing world.
