Since 1894, the year before the school began, St Margaret’s has been enrolling boarders. With more than 120 years of experience in boarding, we understand the needs of our students and parents, and ensure open lines of communication to address and meet changing needs. Boarding house life provides, within a Christian environment, an opportunity for development of character, self-discipline and leadership whilst nurturing lifelong friendships. Trained and committed staff members aim to provide a safe and happy ‘home away from home’ for all girls, where their academic, extracurricular and pastoral care needs are monitored and catered for.
Boarders are at the core of what makes St Margaret’s a special place. With more than 170 students from Years 7 to 12 living on campus, we remain proud of our boarding traditions and our connections with rural Queensland, northern New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Pacific nations and beyond. This exposure to communal living is an enriching experience that gives each of our boarders a chance to develop a wider understanding about others and the world in which we live. Students’ families also play an important role in the boarding house, and staff, students and their families are in regular contact.
St Margaret’s is a leading boarding school that is passionate about offering a first-class boarding house, in terms of both amenity and opportunity. The Head of Boarding, Deputy Head of Boarding, Pastoral Care Coordinator and Residential Supervisors (‘House Mothers’) are committed to ensuring that the St Margaret’s boarding experience is one your daughter will cherish all of her adult life.
