At Alphington Grammar, we believe that the primary years are critical for creating solid foundations and building essential skills such as literacy and numeracy, but equally important is that we foster a sense of wonder about learning that can help our students develop as lifelong learners.
Small class sizes in our primary years provides enhanced teacher responsiveness to individual student needs and helps to develop the strong community bond that is so integral to the fabric of Alphington Grammar School. Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Diversity, Creativity, Endeavour and Integrity are underpinned by the central value of Excellence.
The explicit teaching of these values throughout the primary years helps build competencies that prepare our students for transitioning to secondary school as engaged young adolescents ready to contribute to the world around them.
Our students are encouraged to explore their talents and interests and achieve to the best of their ability. We offer our students the opportunity to participate in activities across the various sports, music and the arts. Our structured program has an emphasis on literacy and numeracy skills, but we also provide a stimulating program across all learning areas. For our highly abled students in Years 3 to 6, we have introduced the ASPIRE Program – Authentic, Student lead, Problem solving, Individualised, Real world Education – designed to allow students to follow their curiosity and think creatively to solve real life problems.
At Alphington, your child will grow – physically, emotionally and cognitively – during their primary years. We are here to support them through this and ensure they are ready for the next step of their educational journey.
